Sofia Bartlett – Founder & Collaboration Lead
PhD (pronouns: she/her)
Dr. Sofia Bartlett PhD is a public health scientist committed to advancing equity-oriented approaches to the prevention, care, and surveillance of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) and other communicable diseases in Canada. She is the founder and director of the You Matter Lab, which is grounded in community-engaged, applied public health research. She is trained in both quantitative and qualitative methods, with experience spanning communicable disease surveillance, descriptive and inferential epidemiology, realist evaluation, quality improvement science, community-based research, and participatory approaches.
Sofia currently serves as Interim Scientific Director of Clinical Prevention Services at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where she provides strategic and scientific leadership for provincial STBBI and tuberculosis programming and surveillance. She is also an Assistant Professor (Partner) in the UBC School of Population and Public Health, and an investigator with both the CIHR Pan-Canadian Network for HIV and STBBI Clinical Trials Research (CTN+) and the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C (CanHepC). She co-leads the UBC Transformative Health and Justice Research Cluster (THJRC).
Across all her work, Sofia is focused on disrupting systems of stigma, amplifying the voices of people most affected by health inequities, and translating evidence into action.
Mike Mahay – Admin Assistant

Mike joined the Test, Link, Call project in August 2023, soon after the eligibility for TLC was expanded to assist those living with HIV. He works with our clinics and partners to ensure phones are available for their clients, as well as supporting other administrative aspects of the project.
Nicola Gale – Evaluation Specialist
PharmD MPH (pronouns: she/her)
Nicola Gale is a clinical pharmacist with the CUPS Liver Clinic team in Calgary, Alberta. In her role as a prescribing pharmacist with CUPS, she has worked to build collaborative partnerships with providers in community, acute care, and corrections to improve linkages to HCV testing, treatment, and cure. Nicola also recently completed a Masters in Public Health through the University of Victoria, and works remotely for the BC Centre for Disease Control providing program monitoring and evaluation for the Test, Link, Call (TLC) project.
Amrit Tiwana – Research Assistant
MPH (pronouns: she/her)
Amrit holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She is currently a Research Assistant at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where she leads the qualitative data collection and evaluation for the Test, Link, Call (TLC) Project. In addition, she oversees the quantitative analyses for the ASSESS-DBS Study.
Celine Juadiong – Research Assistant
(pronouns: she/her)
Celine Juadiong is a Research Assistant at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where she supports the Test, Link, Call Project and Thrive Health implementation. Her background is in project coordination and community partnerships within BC’s Fraser and Greater Vancouver regions. Celine is currently completing her studies at The University of British Columbia.
