Sofia Bartlett – Founder & Collaboration Lead
PhD (pronouns: she/her)

Sofia joined BCCDC as the senior scientist for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STIBBI) in 2021 and is currently the interim scientific director for Clinical Prevention Services. She provides scientific leadership of STIBBI and TB surveillance and programming at BCCDC, and conducts applied public health research to address related knowledge gaps. Dr. Bartlett is a co-investigator with the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network and the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C, and she co-leads the Transformative Health and Justice Research Cluster at UBC.

She founded the You Matter collaboration, and was the lead on the STBBI Pathways Project. She is also the founder and lead on the Test, Link, Call (TLC) project, and is the Co-Primary Investigator of the ADVANCE COVID-19 Vaccines Study.

Mike Mahay – Admin Assistant
(pronouns: he/him)

Mike joined the Test, Link, Call project in August 2023, soon after the eligibility for TLC was expanded to assist those living with HIV. He works with our clinics and partners to ensure phones are available for their clients, as well as supporting other administrative aspects of the project.

Nicola Gale – Evaluation Specialist
PharmD MPH (pronouns: she/her)

Nicola Gale is a clinical pharmacist with the CUPS Liver Clinic team in Calgary, Alberta. In her role as a prescribing pharmacist with CUPS, she has worked to build collaborative partnerships with providers in community, acute care, and corrections to improve linkages to HCV testing, treatment, and cure. Nicola also recently completed a Masters in Public Health through the University of Victoria, and works remotely for the BC Centre for Disease Control providing program monitoring and evaluation for the Test, Link, Call (TLC) project.

Amrit Tiwana – Research Assistant
MPH (pronouns: she/her)

Amrit holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She is currently a Research Assistant at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where she leads the qualitative data collection and evaluation for the Test, Link, Call (TLC) Project. In addition, she oversees the quantitative analyses for the ASSESS-DBS Study.

Celine Juadiong – Research Assistant
(pronouns: she/her)

Celine Juadiong is a Research Assistant at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where she supports the Test, Link, Call Project and Thrive Health implementation. Her background is in project coordination and community partnerships within BC’s Fraser and Greater Vancouver regions. Celine is currently completing her studies at The University of British Columbia.

Pam Young – Program Manager at Unlocking the Gates Services Society
MPH (pronouns: she/her)

Pam Young is currently the Program Manager for Unlocking the Gates Services Society a non-profit society that supports individuals in conflict with the justice system. She is also the Co-Primary Investigator of the ADVANCE COVID-19 Vaccines Study.

She acts as the Peer-Coordinator for the Health & Justice Research Cluster, where she provides leadership and guidance to support social justice-orientated research activities, policy action, and community-driven change for people in prison and post-release. Pam is also a Lived Experience Strategic Advisor for BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services.
